The Indian Navy’s INS Kolkata rescued 21 crew members, including an Indian national, from the Barbados-flagged MV True Confidence, reportedly struck by a drone or missile in the Gulf of Aden.

The crew faced critical injuries, prompting abandonment of the vessel 55 nautical miles southwest of Aden on Wednesday. INS Kolkata swiftly responded, reaching the site at 4:45 p.m., deploying its integral helicopter and boats for the rescue.

The Navy’s medical team provided crucial aid, and the crew, including critically injured members, were evacuated to Djibouti. These incidents underscore the mounting security challenges in the Gulf of Aden, requiring proactive Navy involvement.
